Taba

Sinai Peninsula is one of the top spiritual religious touristic areas all over the world. It is considered as one of main destinations for Egypt’s guests and visitors. Its base overlooks the Mediterranean Sea in the North. Suez Canal and Suez Gulf border the Peninsula to the west. Negev Desert borders it to the northeast and the Gulf of Aqaba laps at its shores to the southeast.

Sinai is divided into three main sections. The southern which is a bumpy solid land that is made up of high granite mountains, and its famous for the St Catherine’s Monastery, which is considered to be the oldest continuously inhabited Christian monastery in the world. Moreover it overlooks the highest mountain in Egypt which rises up to 2637 m high above the sea level. This section enjoys also a plenty of beach-resort towns like Sharm El-Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba and Taba. Tourists usually arrive through Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport, crossing the borders from Eilat or Taba, by road from Cairo or by ferry from Aqaba in Jordan.

Middle Sinai is a plain area with abundant water resources derived from rain water that flows from southern heights to the central plateau. It is bordered by Tieh plateau, that marks Sinai Northern section extending to Mediterranean Sea in the North. This is a possible route for prophets Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, and Jesus.
